Seed parent vs pod parent

this is a fascinating question to me also. i am breeding Cattleya species and am very curious which parents traits will shine through in the offspring. this has to be already well studied over the past century of Cattleya breeding. i wonder if the guys at h & r would have some insight. maybe Carter and holmes as well. fred clarke most certainly has insight into this.
