well, those are all ok teams , but the wolverines have the winningest history in all of college football, and are one of the oldest organized teams in the us...
ill stop, this is an orchid thread....buuuuuuuttt,
PS: Sorry for ruining your fun, but I really have no idea what you all are going on about! Had to look up what a buckeye was, and discovered its just about the same as what UK folks call 'conkers'. No, not fun to get hit in the head by one of those!
If I’m not mistaken, those are “horse chestnuts”.
When I lived in England, we’d drill a hole through them and insert a shoelace, tying a knot to hold it on. Then you swing them at another kid’s, as he held it hanging. You lost when yours broke.

The Michigan State mascot is the Spartan. The University of Michigan mascot is the Wolverine (a vicious cold-climate North American mammal, not the silly comic book character.) The mascot of Ohio State is the Buckeye, a common name for the American chestnut, Castanea dentata, which was once a major portion of the eastern North American temperate forest.<snip>
Actually, the (Ohio) buckeye is Aesculus glabra, which has poisonous seeds, and also has leaves and twigs that stink when crushed, so it's a perfect mascot for Ohio State. You're welcome.
