I had a few plants rot from the high humidity. I found one NOID Phal in S/H with what looked like Erwinia rot on the distal portion of a leaf. I took it into the house, cut off the leaf, and left it in my kitchen sink where it would get bright shade but much lower relative humidity. It has survived and is growing normally.

Ideally I should get some locking screens so I can leave my sunroom open to air circulation but lock it when I am not home.

estación seca, what is your source for air circulation when your greenhouse is closed up?

The evaporative cooler has a large fan. If I were to throw a handful of dog hair in front of it it would quickly be spread throughout the sunroom.

I am about to purchase a Mist King System but trying to decide which one I should get. I am inclined toward the Advanced system that comes with 15 nozzles. I need to cover most of a 12' x 10' area and, unless I'm mistaken, the 'Ultimate' system isn't terribly ultimate with only 3 nozzles. If I have to buy another 12 nozzles at $20 each, I may as well get the Advanced system...unless the 15 nozzles that come with the advanced system are not going to be satisfactory for my application.

Any thoughts on the choices I'm facing?

Oh, and one more thing, does anyone know if the Brandon supply chain debacle is likely to make trying to order a Mist King system futile?

I've had the starter system for about 7 to 10 years (can't remember). I've run up to 18 misters on it. You can upgrade the pump for $35 to run up to twenty misters. The T valves are 15.50 each, so that's $150. So a $180 starter kit, upgraded pump $35, $150 for extra valves is $365 plus some extra tubing vs $500 for the advanced.
Ultimate isn't worth the price. If money doesn't matter, why not? To me, it always matters.

Can you explain this statement?

Why are you buying it if you don't know it will work for your application? What would make it not work for you?

PS I don't know what the Brandon supply debacle is. I order straight through MistKing (Jungle Hobbies). I've ordered a few nozzles and some connectors through Josh's Frogs that were on sale before.

Hopefully you're using RO water. Since I run my fertilizer through same tank as I water from now, which is also the mister reservoir, I've so far had no nozzles fail in the past year and a half. Before that, I had a separate tank for mister vs watering tank. Time will tell how they hold up, but I'm happy so far.

Why are you buying it if you don't know it will work for your application? What would make it not work for you?

I didn't say I was buying it. Here's the lay of the land.

If I buy the Ultimate system and have to buy a lot of nozzles, tubing, manifolds, and other fittings to set things up, I may as well get the Advance system.

If I buy the Advanced system with 15 'value' nozzles and find out I need some of the premium nozzles I could end up paying well over $500 and having with a bunch of unused value nozzles.

What I need to understand is:
1) What I'm likely to need in terms of the pricier value and premium nozzles.
2) What is the coverage area for a nozzle. I've been assuming a circle with a three foot diameter.

The supply debacle is widespread product shortages causing very high prices, especially on petroleum products (read plastic) and anything electronic due to prevailing economic ceaselessness in Washington D.C.Most Texas Instruments parts and microprocessors are projected to be unavailable until November 2023

I keep a 45 gallon food-grade trash can of it in my greenhouse. The one issue I can see is that it slowly develops find green algae that could plug up nozzles if pre-filtering at the bulkhead isn't top notch.

Have you asked them at MistKing what they suggest for your space? They're usually pretty good at helping. They do customized mist systems for zoos, etc, in large spaces, so should be able to easily give you advice.

A three foot wide spray is possible, depending on how you install the misters, but would need to be vertical spacing and nozzles pointed down. Horizontal placement gives less coverage, more focus. Putting the nozzles too close together will have the opposite effect (heavier saturation of droplets in the air) Having fan(s) going will of course deflect the mist so you have to plan for how you'll move the air.

I was asking why buy if you don't know it will suit your space, because you said you were getting ready to purchase a MistKing system. That was a generic question, not directed specifically directed at the Advanced system. More like is it the type of misting system you need for your space.

keith I think a mistking is more for a terrarium I would have thought and for a greenhouse you use something like these 360deg Micro-mist sprayer-91258

you just need a pump, a timer and the irrigation hose, maybe a pressure reducer, I've never set one up but the theory is pretty simple, doesn't need to have a fancy computer, an electronic timer should do just as well.

What are you trying to accomplish with a misting system? Watering? Humidifying? Cooling?

In a greenhouse, I would think there are better ways to accomplish all.

Uh oh. I have fans blowing 24-7, which may present a problem for watering when I'm gone. The fans must remain on after watering because the plant crowns will still be wet come night due to the very high humidity after I water. I really don't need a humidity increase, just the water. Perhaps what I need is a sprinkler system, though I don't know of one that will work with an RO reservoir.

Watering only.

I just haven't gotten around to making a cover for my 44 gallon trash can reservoir. Ironically, the lid that goes with the trash can is sold separately and costs about the same amount as the trash can. Maybe a trash bag would do.
