Mist King Systems

It is a very fine mist. Don’t know the specs.

Starter pump is max 125 PSI. If you YouTube it you can see about what it looks like. I've run it on mounts before, and never manually watered the mount.

How dispursed is the spray/mist? Thinking about adding it to my tent for my mounted orchids, but I don't want to have to replace all my lights with waterproof versions. I could always tarp off the mount section, but I don't really want to mess with airflow doing that.

The fine mist is very fine, not spray droplets. The emitters are very directional. But a fan in a terrarium would easily blow the mist elsewhere.

I've had it spraying mounts since I got it in one way or another. Right now I have LED non-waterproof strip of lights mounted underneath a baker's rack shelf. The misters hang off a pipe that's about four inches below that. As long as it's not pointed at the lights, or above the lights, you should be fine. As ES says, they're directional misters. I'll try to take a picture in awhile.

Ideally, the system I'd like will be able to keep the humidity up (humidity activated) and run on a schedule to water the media 2-3 mornings per week. Would I need to get two timers to accomplish both goals?

Thanks! I have a rack/shelf on the left side, then an open area on the right for the mounted orchids, sounds like if I add a tarp in between the 2 sections and have the fans off during the spray I should be all set.

Prepping for an extended vacation followed by shoulder replacement, so not having to have my house sitter, or my gf spray 2-3 times a day is ideal.

Being humidity activated is outside my area of expertise. I don't know how that would work. I'm sure if you go to MistKing's website MistKing Misting Systems by Jungle Hobbies Ltd they can help you figure out what you need to do both. Likely even sell the humidity activated stuff.

Gotcha. I'll go upstairs in awhile and take a picture, and also put a fan on it while it's misting. Patience... takes me a while to motivate going up the stairs.

I haven't used humidistats. My engineer friend tried several, then gave up, saying they aren't reliable. Have others here used them? MistKing sells one that integrates with the misting system.

Rather than a humidistat you could run the thing every X minutes while you're home some day, and observe how long it takes for the humidity to drop to where you want the mister to come on.

If you go to MistKing.com you can read the ST-24 seconds timer or RCT-24 repeat cycle timer programming instructions. The ST can have up to 9 different programs, on any combination of days of the week, for any length of time. So, yes, you should be able to do periodic brief mistings for humidity and longer mistings for watering.
