The minute I saw that worried, almost horror-struck look, I knew something was awry!

I replied to ES about the photo problems, but forgot to write what I meant to write about the plants!
The Phals look like they are recovering really nicely. What's your technique? I'm curious to hear what others do.

Dear Camille, I'm sorry I didn't answer you. I don't do anything very special; In a normal pot (open) I put a layer of pine bark and sphagnum moss on top which I always keep a little moist, spaying every day if necessary and on this bed without burying the roots or crown (only lying), I place the plant. That is, I keep a medium high humidity but with a lot of circulation, ahh and not much light. I have tried many things and it is what works best for me, but I am willing to keep trying different methods.
This one almost dead..(not one of the 3 mentioned in this thread) but they develop well without too much strategy

I do something very similar, except with a semi-hydro pot (reservoir) and the LECA filled to about an inch or two above the reservoir, then lower the plant down until it's sitting right on top of the LECA. Same thing, just different medium.

Update from one of the revival Phals.
I think one of the mini rescued Phals has a terminal spike with a keiki? Or, is there a Phal that grow like this? 🤔...the old flower spike was in the center of the leaves as well, but I don't know any Phal that grow like that.

Yes, that's a terminal spike. Remember "terminal" has the meaning of end like the end of a train line, not death. The leaves can live for many years. The plant is likely to make more growths from the base, as well as the keikiis.

In France, the last year of high school is called 'Terminale'. I'm sure glad it doesn't mean death!! Though I recall that most of us at the time felt like it was synonymous with death seeing as the high school leaving exams (the baccalaureat) are brutal...

But this behavior is normal, is it a genetic problem, or some source of lab Frankenstein (too much of this and that) ?

This isn't limited to my current computer/browser setup. I've had this problem with a Windows computer and browsers Opera and Firefox; a Debian Linux computer and browser Firefox; and four different Android phones and multiple browsers.

I have to agree with the ladies on this. I don't have any issues like that either, on my phone (android) or my pc (Linux Mint). It has to be a setting issue on your account.
