Color change with Klyte
Question Color change with Klyte

I haven't posted here in a long time but I have a question about a fertilizer. I have Klyte in a plastic deli container. It has changed color. Can it still be used or has the formulation changed too much?

Most powdered fertilizers are inorganic salts, so have essentially an infinite shelf-life. They also have no color when in solution, so indicator dyes are added so you know it’s present.

The materials are also quite hygroscopic, so if the jar is not kept tightly sealed, humidity enters and is absorbed by the powder, causing tiny changes in pH, changing the color of the dye.

There has been no change to the chemistry of the K-Lite, so it’s perfectly fine to use.
