Default Acineta beyrodtiana culture

Greetings,

I know it's a shade loving, cool grower, that flowers down through the pot (basket) and has fragrant, waxy, long lasting flowers. And it's a native of Columbia. That is all I know. Any other knowledge of this orchid would be greatly appreciated, such as flowering time, water needs, rest needs, etc.

I bought one at the Longwood Gardens Show.

Thanks,
Randy

Randy, how is this plant doing? Did it make it? I'm thinking of getting one and would love to hear your experience with it.

I have several different species including this one that are quite large and mature. I am growing them the best I can in cool winter and warm summer conditions but they never flower. Any success?

I can't give much info on flowering as haven't owned it or Chrysantha long enough. But thought I'd ask, do they survive without a heated greenhouse in Vic over Winter similar to a Stanhopea?

Thumbs up

Hey NJ! In 2018 from Waldor I bought Acineta superba x Stanhopea stevensonii with tag from Ecuagenera. That's also when I repotted but no blooms yet altho now new growth is coming from top of the medium that appear to be leaves. Our weather has been nutty but plant has been outside with other Stans. and looks ok.

I can answer my own question for anyone else looking for cultural info, this has been hardier than any other Acineta species I've grown. It has thrived as a seedling in my shade house temps between 6c - 39c, constant moisture, low light grown in sphagnum. Currently with 5 growths, I will post a pic when large enough to bloom.
