I think there were discussions about similar thing like this before, such as if conditions where the plants grow are irregular enough, then the behaviour of the plant could well become irregular too - ie. not typical behaviour.

This might not negatively impact the plant's health though. But then again, it might. But - if the plant keeps growing nicely year in and year out, with no issues, then that will be great.

It’s just a personal choice. Some do, some don’t. My phals are all mounted, and I don’t. If you decide you want to, do it carefully.

there’s just so many blooms on that one branch I thought it might break or get stressed or something? Is that what your “I don’t,” was about? that you think the branch is plenty strong for all those buds?

Likely won’t break. But if you want to support put one small stick in it, and just one wrap tie or clip to hold in place. I would use what ya have on hand... a shishkabob stick, a chopstick, a small straight stick from yard, then a small clip, a hair clip, a bread wrapper twistie, etc. If you decide to do so, just gently poke stick in and sort of gently twist it down. If you feel resistance, just move it a bit.

True. Just monitor the angle of that side 'branch' as the buds get bigger. If it appears to start sagging too much due to weight build-up, then go ahead with inserting a stick or something to support it. You currently have 1 support for propping up the spike, and that might be enough already.

why or what Causes the main spike to top out with a 90° turn?
