Smile Wild orchids growing in city - Miami Beach

Recently found a large group of Eulophia graminea - chinese crown orchids gowing wild near a road, i noticed when i saw some slender flower spikes and beautiful flowers.

The orichid kind of looks like a oncidium

I am taking some home to also cultivate.
I am allowed to do this because this orchid comes originally from asia and is classifed as a exotic plant.

Dont wory i will only be taking one plant their are about 7 large orchids and twenty small seedlings proving that they germinate in florida

This orchid has naturalized itself in australia and now recently in the bahamas and florida.

If you guy are intrested i will post some photos

This orchid Has many seed pods some which have aready
opend
i will try to also germinate some seed taking soil from roots

Default Will do

I am going home later today so hopefully i will be able to take Eulophia graminea home to try to cultivate it wild in my garden, this is one of the few non native orchids where its seeds acttually germinate.

It is classified as terrestrial but it can quite easily be grown epiphytic such as on trees and coral rocks

The flowers are beitiful and it is in bloom now.

If anybody is intrestead please reply to this theread

I will also be experimenting trying to germinate seed from this plant also to see how it is able to spread in south florida in the wild

When I used to live on South Beach I stashed a few den nobile keikis on some trees in south pointe park. They were doing quite well last time I got down there.
