University of Florida uses municipal water for the ones they grow and do very well. I happen to have a collection system setup.

I have pure water since we have an RO/DI system for our reef tank. The problem is I would have to go water it daily with the water and I'm to lazy. It would be way to expensive to have the RO/DI going thru my whole orchid watering system. Maybe I'll try again some day.
