Here is a thread I made last year when I had this happen. The spike didn’t really elongate like a normal one and the bulb part with roots didn’t get much larger. It only bloomed with two flowers and died back like a normal spike after flowering. It got back on track and pushed out a normal new growth shortly after. I guess this just happens from time to time with these complex hybrids Odd looking growth

Nice thread! Thanks for sharing that. My recent memory about something like this led me back to a page related to this kind of thing. Quite an interesting effect.

Sorry I forgot all about this, it only bloomed one flower but the flower was completely normal. I pinch off the flower as it was dying and the “pseudobulb” never dried out, and it started making a new growth.
