Jr. Members vs. Members vs. Sr. Members? How is this determined??

Hey just curious...How is it decided that some people are Jr. members, others are just members and others are Senior members??? Up until now I had assumed it was just based on time since joining but then suddenly the thought came to me that what if it is based on age? Like junior members are younger then 18, members are above that and seniors are.....of course all around 30!!!

But then I thought, I don't remember putting my age down when I joined! So now I am left really curious and wanting to know! How is this decided!?

Not sure about Jr members, but the only difference between a member and a senior member is post count.

Ah hah! Thank you!!!! My mind just couldn't stop thinking of possibilities once it started! I would gusss post count is the difference between all three then!

I think it is post count. I guess longevity has its rewards. It is a kind of fun "ego boost" when your status changes!

In addition to the designation of Junior or Senior Member, you'll also notice there are white flowers directly below the member's name in their posts. You start with zero flowers, and as your post count increases, the number of flowers will increase. If the first flower is purple, it means that member has made a donation and is considered a Forum Supporter.

I can't tell you what number of posts are required to change your status from Junior to Senior or to give you another flower. I do kind of remember that the first flower came pretty quickly (maybe 30 posts?), but then the number of posts to get additional flowers increases by quite a bit. As you can see, I currently have three. I'm thinking I got my third one at 500 posts, but I don't think a fourth one will come until I have 1,000 posts. Not sure, though. And not that it matters. It's just something interesting to talk about.

It also does not relate to the knowledge you may have about orchids. A person with a greenhouse who has been growing orchids for 20 years may only have 100 posts because he or she is just to busy, or not into message boards, while someone with 1000 might just be a beginner, but has lots of time for posting. On another topic, I've seen people who have only 2 or 3 orchids start a Youtube channel, and consider themselves "experts."

Oh my goodness!!!! I totally didn't get an email notifying me of more posts for some reason! Mountaineer! So good to know!!!! I totally had noticed the flowers but really hadn't thought about how we all have different numbers of flowers and what that means!!!

I was trying to figure out the difference because I wanted Know if it somehow indicated their time as a member or experience level or something like that.
