I do not remember my password. So far it hasn't been a problem because it remembers me when I login. However if a clean up is done, I will lose the ability to log onto this website. Can someone tell me how to reset my password so that I can then document it.

After you log in, go to the top of the page and click on 'User CP'. On the left-hand side, you will see a column labeled 'Control Panal'. Go down to the third 'grouping' and the third option is 'Edit Email and Password'. It is good, anyway, to change passwords on a regular basis.

I just looked, though, and it might require you to enter your old password.

If your browser has remembered your password, you probably can figure out what it saved. I know how to do it in Chrome - you go to settings (click on the three little dots in the upper right corner of the address bar), select Settings. Then at the bottom of the list there is a little arrow labeled Advanced" Scroll down to Passwords and Forms, then Manage Passwords. Find Orchidboard.com and click on the "eyeball" icon. It will ask for your computer's system password, and if you enter that, it will show you the password. (I don't know what it does or if available if you haven't set a system password) But I expect that other browsers have a similar structure.

What Roberta said also works with Firefox and Opera. In Firefox I do not need to enter a Windows system password. Had I set a Firefox password it would have asked me for that.

I read in the archives that it is possible for an administrator to reset passwords, but there aren't any admins active here any longer.

Thank you, Roberta. That worked and I have documented my password. You taught me something new and I always like learning something new.

If you are still having trouble updating your password, please let me know. I have contact outside of Orchidboard with an (non-active) administrator and I know she will gladly help out in a pinch.

Camille, thank you. I was able to find my password by following the Google Chrome instructions that Roberta posted. It is too bad, however, that whoever designed the site didn't set up a way to reset your password when you have forgotten it. I have seen other sites that send you a temporary pw with a code to reset a new password. Having said that, I am a fan of this very informative website.

This forum has been around for about 12 years now, and many things function now as they did back then, though lots of things have also been updated/upgraded/improved! The forum owner unfortunately does not have a lot of time to devote to Orchidboard anymore, so the majority of changes in recent years have been simple to keep this place up and running. I agree, being able to reset passwords would be useful!
