It is rather sad when a good site goes down. We lost the Angraecum Encyclopedia and all the excellent information when that site was abandoned (but someone has been rebuilding it, thankfully). It would be terrible to lost this forum and the community that is associated with it. This is where I post the most. I am a member of RVorchidworks, Orchidgeeks and Dave's Garden forums though I haven't been active on any of these lately (and have yet to post on Dave's Garden), all under the same name, as I have been rather busy and just post here when I have a few minutes.

Before the internet had actual information, I started growing orchids. We had two orchid books in our library and both made it clear that orchids were only for greenhouses and needed treefern and Osmunda fiber as a medium. Without the internet vendors and forums, I was at loss. I had no idea there were Orchid Societies, orchid vendors or what these things were. Fortunately, I had two very good houseplant books that each had a small section on orchids and it got me started with basic information.

I do understand that time marches on and technology changes. Still, as Google is my favorite way to find information and Orchid Board nearly always turns up when I am trying to learn about an orchid or orchid issue, I would hate to lose this wonderful body of information.

I hope that if Marty decides to end the forum, he will offer to have someone else take it over and not just let it fall into a Black Hole.

I too have tried contacting him with no success. I'm really worried.
Also I would probably regret this because I have no idea what I am saying, but I would be willing to take OB on if Marty offered to sell it/give it, whatever it is people to when they hand forums to a new Admin.

Facebook, not an option for me either. I wouldn't click it even if I had a 5 inch mouse cursor.

I joined a month or so after the creation of this place and would really take it hard if it suddenly disappeared.

If I had to guess, he's busy or no longer has access to previous accounts that folks are trying to reach, lost interest, etc though I have never had any contact with him 'cause I'm still pretty well a nub on this site so I don't even want to make assumptions beyond the fact that he seems okay.

I may be showing my ignorance, is it even possible in this era to not be found? You can google your date and for sure, between LinkedIn, Facebook etc can you even disappear, unless you go off the grid?
