The post wasn't inappropriate.
It was a reply to derv88's post.
I checked it in 'preview' then posted it.
I re-read and rechecked my spelling (something I used to be good at).
Then went shopping.
Logged back on and the post isn't there anymore.
Second one in as many weeks. Well, this post and a new thread.
Weirdness...
Oh well, I'll re-post it...

Apparently not.
A few folks have posted they have tried and not gotten any replies from anyone.

I think it just must have timed out while you were out so didn't actually get submitted. As mentioned, I have contacted people about the issues and got no replies. Don't know why.

I hope it gets resolved soon...I used to pour over almost every post but now I find it too frustrating to get through more than a few (at most) posts. If it's not a time issue it's a frustration threshold issue...I love this forum and I'd NEVER just leave but I definitely find myself checking in less and less because of the issues...taking care of 2 grandchildren under the age of 7 full time is stressful enough, I just don't have the extra time or patience to sit around and wait for a page to load or close it out and re-open it. I usually log on on my phone and the only way to get the site to respond is to restart my phone...by the time I've gone through all that I'm over it and usually my attention is required elsewhere by then anyway

Since I've checked the "remember me" I have not noticed me getting timed out.
It was a great suggestion and I thank the member that told me/us about it.
I went in and edited the missing post after "posting" it.
Since using the "remember me" option I've accidental (feel asleep) while logged in and woke up 7 hours later and I was still logged in.

^ This.
I have limited time to spend online, here and other places, with taking care of all my new orchids.
Plus my medical issues and needing to assist my elderly parents with their own medical issues, take up large amount of my time.
Time I don't have to wait 20 minutes to get to the next post I want to read.
It is a great site for information and the number of active members.
I have 26 new orchids I want to share/seek info and post pictures of (yeah, I went shopping again since I got the 20 news a few weeks ago).

I don't have near the problems some of you describe so its hard to figure out the reasons why some people have them. I do find very slow loading or at times timing out to be an issue. Marty was upgrading to a new server or something a year or two ago I thought. But I don't remember if it actually happened.

Marty did upgrade the servers a few years ago, and it was better for a while... but the site has got busier and it has got worse again.
I'm the main site administrator just now and I have been paying attention to this thread. However administrator access just allows me to edit people's accounts and some other things, but doesn't give any access to the lower levels to see what load is like at different times of day, and what is going on with the servers. Marty is the only person who has access to the servers below the forum.
I reported to Marty about the performance problems back when this thread started, but currently there is not an immediate solution.

Is Marty still posting actively/engaging with the user community?

I am concerned that if Marty isn't responding, he might be having health issues or something of that nature. I hope he is doing well.

I experience long load times on mobile, desktop, and Tapatalk. Sometimes the page loads for minutes and I get a timeout error. The problems started right after the new server upgrade. If I need any help quickly, I now post in the Orchaholics Anonymous group on Facebook (admins, please remove this part of inappropriate).

I agree - this site is getting worse and worse, as far as response times, timing-out, and the like. Very frustrating.
