Finally got Tapatalk 4 talking to ob once on wifi. The posting options are different. This one I chose attachment.

[edit] This test looks the same in a browser as my Tapatalk 2 attachments post [/edit]

Here's my test, iPhone 5S running ios7 and Tapatalk 2.5.1 (most current version for iOS.). I chose the "best" setting for photo size.

From my laptop... that is super tiny... and it looks terrible, not that I was taking a super perfect photo, it was just a quick snap for testing... but wow.

I also chose the "attachment" posting option for the above photo.

When I click on your Image it get's bigger, but is really grainy quality, while the one I've just posted looks decent quality (similar size when clicked on).

I'm having trouble using the option to host from Tapatalk through Tapatalk 4 because it requires a login to Tapatalk which I've forgotten the details for Almost there I think.

This is a test of the 'Image' option (rather than attachement) from Tapatalk 4 on Android.

[edit] this looks bigger but doesn't get bigger when clicked on, just like the Tapatalk 2 option.

---------- Post added at 07:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:12 PM ----------

So... I've tested both methods available in Android Tapatalk 2 & 4. RandomGemini has tested an attachement from iOS.

All look a reasonable size to me when viewing on the PC (1366 x 768 resolution which is about standard).

How do my images look to others?

RandomGemini's looks a reasonable size to me, but looks grainy/pixilated, how does that look to others?

It's good to know that Tapatalk are aware of a problem with picture sizing on the the old plugin. From the tests I'm guessing at the moment it's only a problem with the app on iOS as both versions and both methods work for me on android (unless someone says they don't look good on their browser).

One thing I do notice! On my tablet (also android and with a higher resolution than my PC but only 10" screen) the pictures look very small in tapatalk... all of them... they look a lot bigger on my browser on both the Laptop, and on the tablet (I usually use the browser not tapatalk on the tablet).

I'll add my own test. Submitted via iPhone 5s tapatalk hosted. . 378 resolution which is much smaller than native res.

The attachment is definitely smaller than the tapatalk hosted image. The tapatalk hosted image looks MUCH better.

My image that I posted, looks grainy and pixellated. I'll try signing up for a tapatalk login and see what I get from it. If it works for me, then this may be the fix... and it might not be plugin related at all.

The hosted image Ryan has just posted looks good. I think you have limited space to host that way though You do need a Tapatalk login but then I think they limit how much space you get (or you have to pay for more)

One more try...

The above is "medium" quality, tapatalk hosted.

And

The above is "best."

I'm suspecting now that this is an app issue, in which case, I'll go leave a 1 star review on the App Store for the app. That tends to wake devs up.

---------- Post added at 11:50 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:48 AM ----------

Yep! It's an app issue! When you select "best" quality and have it set to attach the file to the forum, it chooses a MUCH lower resolution.

Even with the tapatalk hosted image, it's still lower res than the original. I'm not sure why that is, but I am suspecting that their image optimization algorithm is all kinds of jacked up. So... one star review on the app store, here it comes!
