Hmm... annoyingly I can't connect to OB from Tapatalk 4 just now. I've had this problem before (which is down to a security something in UK phone networks) which means I can't link to one I've not already set up the shortcut to via mobile, I have to set it up via WiFi when I'm at home.
I don't keep OrchidBoard registered with Tapatalk 4 because it randomly marks all posts as read when I haven't even used the application (this is a know problem between the new version and the old plugin... I've talked to the Tapatalk people about it and the only solution is the plug-in update, or using Tapatalk 2, which is what I usually do).
Anyway, I'll try and remember to run the same tests above with Tapatalk 4 when I get home, and see if I get the same problems as you. If I do then it will show it's something with the new version/old plugin. If I don't then it must be something in the iPhone version.
Is there an old version you can get hold of for the iPhone. I had to jump through several layers of searching and links to find an archive version of Tapatalk 2 after Tapatalk automatically updated me to version 4. But they keep an unsupported archive of the Android Tapatalk 2 for people who are having problems with the new one. Not sure if they do the same for iPhone.

Oh forgot to say, as you can see, the one hosted on Tapatalk does get an added icon in the corner of the image, while the one hosted here doesn't. I don't think that can be avoided if hosting through them. Not sure why you don't get the option, I do on Tapatalk 2, I'll try on Tapatalk 4 later and see if I get the option on that.

iPhone doesn't work like that... especially not since iOS 7 released. Updates for apps are now automatically installed, unless you have turned this feature off, and once you update, you can't downgrade... because the previous version is no longer on the App Store.

Hmm, I remember that now. With the Android I had to first turn off a security setting to allow an app from somewhere other than the 'Play Store' but then I could put it on (same option I change when I'm trying, not very successfully but trying, to write my own apps and test them, I understand that you have to get approval from Apple to even test your own app on your phone )

That is not exactly true. You do not need permission from Apple to test your own apps on your own device. When you register as a dev, you register your devices as developer devices too and the minute you get your dev keys, you can test your apps on your own devices ad infinitum.
The solution to the iOS Tapatalk issue, IMO, is for the board to upgrade to the newer version of the plugin. That will hopefully fix everyone's complaints about tapatalk not working correctly, but Marty has been ill and that will more than likely take some time for him to be able to do. So, hopefully folks can be patient while he recovers.

Does it cost to register as a Dev?
I know there was something when we were looking at it for the place I work that was going to cost and needed several things of ID/company ID to one of a specific list of solicitors (maybe not solicitors might have been accountants, or something, I was loosing track by the time we got that far through the description of the hoops we would have to jump through).

Agreed, that's the only real solution, anything else is just a temporary work-around. It will need doing at some point but needs Marty both well enough and with enough time to spend with the servers.

Thanks Rosie et al for the discussion. It's terribly frustrating to not have the app function as it should but if Marty is not well, it seems silly of me to complain about such an issue. I just love this forum and use it a lot so if we do have a new app for the forum, that'd be great but I understand if it cannot be fixed right now.

Yes. It's 100$ per year to register as an App Developer. My husband has two apps on the App Store, that's it, and they pay for his Developer account. The first year was rough, because he only had the one App up. It does require a copy of your business license. I'm not sure what all you would need in the UK, but here, it was business license, driver's license and your check for 100$ and you were done.

Exactly. I get what it's like. My hubby and I maintain a forum for our local VW club. There's a whole bunch of stuff that goes on behind the scenes that you don't even realize, until you have to do it. I couldn't imagine having to do it on the scale of something like OB. Just kicking out the spammers has to take a couple of hours a day.

I just wish we knew for certain the updated plugin would solve it, however the fact that you get a warning when you enter the site on Tapatalk (at least on Android you do) that there is an out of date plugin and that a couple of issues I've talked to Tapatalk about they have said need an update to the plugin... all that makes it seem the most likely cause.

Well, we do know it will fix some things and once Marty's gotten the chance to update it, then anything else that remains is Tapatalk's problem and will require nasty emails sent to the developer. It's just that you can't tell a developer that his application is broken, if you're not using all of his latest, approved tools. They just won't listen until you are.
I'll talk to my hubby about maybe installing tapatalk on the VW forum... maybe we can eliminate some of those issues by doing some of our own experimenting.

This is exactly why I love OB folks. You all are so nice and so thoughtful!
Let me see what I can dig up on this one for you Pilot. Maybe I can find another forum out there that has already answered this issue. I'll go google it right now.

And... confirmed from the Tapatalk forums. The super teeny photo sizes is, in fact, a known bug in one of the older versions of the tapatalk plugin. This was fixed in a newer version.
