Can someone direct me to the forum rules?

Found out on my first post when I tried to link to something on Amazon that I'm not yet allowed to post links. Found out when I tried to quote someone who posted links that I can't even do that.

Looked all over for a list of rules, but I can't seem to find any. It might be right under my nose, but I'm not seeing any. Can someone point me in the right direction so I can read up on the dos and dont's of the forum?

I'm not sure if we have a post with just a list of rules (I'll look), but posting links is definitely allowed. Are you copying the url and then inserting it via the 'insert link' button at the top? I'd have to check, but there may be a restriction in place. For example no links until you've made 5 or 10 or x number of posts. We've had huge spam problems in the past, which would explain such a restriction.

But for general information about how this forum works, have a look in at the top of the 'about this board' section the stickied threads have lots of good information:

I understand. I was a moderator for a vbulletin photography forum for a long time a few years back. I know how the spam can be. I didn't insert with the button, I just copied and pasted the link directly into the body of the post. It also wouldn't let me post a simple 'thank you' when I quoted someone because his post had links in it. I thought there very well may be a number of posts I had to have before it allowed me to post links, I was just hoping to find out what that number WAS! :P Thanks for your help!

I did some digging through the forum, and the limit (at least for posting photos) is 5 posts. I'd guess it's the same for links.

Last I knew you needed 5 posts first. We worked out the number 5 with a little bit of trial and error watching which people reported the problem and which didn't.

I don't think we have posted rules as such, we pride ourselves on having very few rules. Maybe we should have a post in this section that gives the few rules we have Basically it's no spam (and the limit you have found is a restriction to help avoid that) and be polite and non-abusive with each other.

I believe it would be a very good idea to have the few rules posted. I believe the rule was 5 posts before posting pics and before posting a URL; I read this somewhere, but I cannot remember where.
If you post pics through the paperclip - attachment button, I have found that only uploading a pic or two at a time goes much easier - I tried uploading 10 at one time and the old server would not allow it. The new server may have a better capacity to allow such, but I have not tried it out yet.
Thanks for bringing this up - I don't think they allow porno either - so don't post any naked orchids okay?
