Yes, posting for the sake of it to 'hide' the spam does nothing. It bumps the thread so more people see it rather than the intention of hiding it.
What RJSquirel was doing was just putting a post with
under each spam post. While that does not hinder me spotting the spam which has been reported (or infraction given), it also has no useful purpose in hiding the spam.
However I was not saying here that you should not post on-topic for the thread. Just that posting to hide a spam post will not work. Also that if it's not reported/infraction given there is a good chance moderators won't ever spot it.
Once a post is reported, or an infraction given (as you always do Gin
) then further posting on the thread does not hide it from us.
