On your device, upload you photo to the free photo hosting site Postimages — free image hosting / image upload
Once the image is uploaded select 'hotlink for forums' and paste that link in your post.

I'm not sure what this plant is. It grows in a pot on my front porch and gets morning sun. I have had it so long I've forgotten where it came from and what it is called. But I love the blossoms.
Edit to add: It seems you have it correct. After searching for the name you suggested, the images look right. Thanks.

I am trying to start my Gallery so I can add pics to my posts. At the bottom of the Upload page, there is supposed to be a button to "Select Files" I'm not getting that button.
The Sticky says something about having to post 3 (or 5) posts before you have this option. I'm pretty sure I'm over that quota.
Any ideas?
Thank you

I don't use the Gallery so can't advise on that. But if you want to add photos to a post, you can do it directly from the main Forum areas... When you make a post, click on "Go Advanced". Then scroll down to Manage Attachments (make sure that pop-ups are enabled for this site in your browser). You'll get another screen, where you can select up to 10 photos. When you have selected the one(s) you want, click on Upload, and they will be part of the post when you submit it. Downside, resolution will be reduced (the Forum is hosted on the server of the owner's business , space is limited). To get the larger photos, people use external services. There are notes on the subject in various places. (Or you can see the code by clicking "quote" even if you don't actually do anything)

Thanks so much, Roberta. I did try process (first) that you discribed , but pics are sideways with no option to reorient that I can discover.
I thought maybe if I used the Gallery process that the problem would be fixed.
It's becoming more than a little frustrating at this point.
Again, though, thanks for trying to help.

The "sideways" bit is a "feature" of the ancient software underlying the site. Sometimes you can straighten them out by first editing on a computer (your photo editor of choice) - rotate 90 deg, save, rotate back and save again. Or do a Save As (the same name or a different one, your choice) - that also seems to reset the metadata so that it displays correctly. But we're all used to looking at sideways pix...

There are two choices:
1 - turn your head
2 - Turn the computer
For PC owners, the most practical/safe is opt. 1.

So, I guess the software "is what it is." Roberta, thanks for the suggestion. I can easily work with that. Hoping that the software does automatically resize. One less thing to do.
I'm not really new to this or other forums, and I enjoy posting pics. I just don't remember this problem.

I have seen this sort of problem elsewhere... I got a nifty little program that handles resizing on batches (very handy for the Species blog that I edit)... but I found that it messed up the orientation on about 1/3 of the photos that I received from other people. By the time I found and fixed those, it took longer than just doing them one at a time in the first place once I got the rhythm. I suspect that there are a bunch of hidden moving parts...
