Update:
I'm still getting drive-by virus downloads after visiting OB. Last night, I picked up three trojans, and a virus (Trojan.Zefarch!Gen x 2, Backdoor.Tidserv!gen6, & Trojan.gen).

how odd.
I visit frequently, and haven't had a single problem or alarm from my AV software at all.
And I'm running Windows. No issues.

I had two attacks a while ago, but following a suggestion in this thread, I updated Java and have not had anything since. I'm running Windows XP.

Howdy Folks,
Just saw this thread and just finished reading.. I've not noticed much here, but things have been busy and I'm not here as much as I'd like.
There was some discussion regarding FACEBOOK. We have FACEBOOK Accts and in itself I believe it is ok, but linked to it as 3rd parties I guess it would be described, are these games ie Farmville, Aquarium etc. Tons of them. Not to mention all FB ads and then the games ads. But these games are cozing many a great deal of problems - including us/me. Now I just went thru this 2 months ago. It had turned off/negated all my security and altho it started acting sluggish I thought all was fine (sorta). It is quite normal over there for white pages to come up especially on their heavy traffic hours - or so it is said. But t'ween the LT and the PC - it was very expensive. It totally destroyed the LT hard drive and almost got the PC.
The 3rd party apps for FB are no longer allowed in this home -- I'm not so certain FB is something that will be tolerated for much longer either, now that I am writing this. They themselves are allowing much to much info out there to their advertizer$... so at least make sure you lock down your all accts tight. FB is looking for more revenue and the end of that means is its users.
I'm just saying ~
Hugs

Well, both the computers at my work had to be taken in for repair, now my boss is disconnecting the internet. Bummer. He had no virus protection on either computer.
For both computers, when they were started up on the day they crashed, the only 2 sites that were accessed were Yahoo!(as the homepage) and OB. I didn't open any emails and did not visit FB.
Now I can only visit OB through the library computer. Which really sucks, I won't be able to spend much time here anymore.

Wow, that is harsh! However, I can't believe he didn't have any antivirus protection! I would never go on the internet without it. It is usually provided by whoever you get your internet from. I have AT&T U-Verse and it comes with McAfee security suite. I have had no problems at all on OB or AOL which is my homepage. On the laptops, we have either Kaspersky or Webroot. Seems like only about $50 per year. Well worth it.

I know, it seems very harsh. We go through CenturyLink for the internet and they don't provide anything except the internet. Well, he has anti-virus now from our IT guy but he is still cancelling the internet. I have some choice opinions on the matter but it's his business so I can't voice them. I also had some opinions about him not having an antivirus on ANY of the computers and they were all connected to the internet. Not too smart if you ask me.
I will just have to make due with my weekly trips to the library. Still going through OB withdrawl!
