I've noticed this particular situation with firefox web-browser for quite a while now - and it only happens with orchidboard. But not anything major ------ where sometimes I just login .... and the window comes up saying 'thanks for logging in' ----- and --- after waiting a short time, it disappears and doesn't log me in ----- ie. gets back to the login area with no details in the login/password box. So trying again and again results in the same progression of events.
Most of the times --- a clearing of cookies and/or cache from the browser -- will sort it all out. So usually clearing cookies and cache and even off-line and site preferences data ----- makes everything workable again.
I did that various times today ---- cleared cookies, cache, off-line and site preferences data. But same situation. Couldn't log in ----- even after closing (getting rid of) the firefox window ---- and then opening a different firefox window.
Finally managed to login ---- after closing
other open firefox windows (ie. can have other firefox windows open ----- independent ones in the task bar). That is ---- closed all instances of firefox. Then started up one firefox window ----- and was then able to log into orchidboard.
I've noticed that this particular login thing happens only with orchidboard. It's not a problem for me ----- as it only happens every once in a while. I'm just mentioning it ----- in case others notice the same thing, or if anyone needs to know what to do if they encounter the same thing. Another approach is to just fire-up another browser, such as Chrome etc ..... and then login.
I also think (have a feeling) that eventually - even without clearing firefox cookies and cache etc ......... I think it is possible to login again with firefox ----- but after some amount of time has elapsed. But not sure how much time though. Haven't checked on this yet. This is only mentioning what I've noticed for quite a while now. I don't know if it happens with other browsers.
Below are just screen-shots of what I mean.
Then reverts to blank login area.
