Members gallery - filename stuck
Hi all! Maybe this has been noticed before ------ in the members gallery upload area ---- where if I upload a photo with a particular filename, and then I DELETE that particular photo having that particular filename ...... and then I proceed to upload a different photo that just so-happens to have the same filename as the previously deleted photo ...... it is noticed that the ORIGINAL photo re-appears in the gallery, even though the 'new' replacement photo (having the same filename) is supposed to over-write the old photo.

In the attachment shown ----- the small thumbnail still shows the 'old' (supposed to be deleted image) ..... and even though the big photo shows the NEW replacement image ........ it will turn out that the OLD image (which is supposed to have been deleted/erased) still dominates. It means that the original image was not actually deleted.
I don't actually mind if the original image wasn't 'truly' deleted. I'm just commenting on a glitch in the system -- where the old image basically still stuck in the syste, even though the OrchidBoard system is supposed to have 'deleted' it.
So - just reporting a glitch/bug thing only

It can be seen that the thumbnail doesn't match the 'new' pic. And once I exit the gallery and return ...... the old pic will show up ...... and the 'new' pic will be gone. That is - at the moment, it looks like the old pic just gets stuck in the system.
That is - using the option to delete the old photo, followed by uploading a different photo having the same name as the previously-deleted photo ..... results in the unexpected return (re-appearance) of the 'deleted' photo.

UPDATE:
Looks like the new replacement image has finally over-written the old image now. Interesting system behaviour.

Sorry, I just saw this. It could be that some changes only get written to the database at set times in the day, but I'm just guessing. Or you experienced a one time glitch? I never use the gallery so my knowledge of it is very limited.

Thanks Camille! I haven't tested to see if it is a 1 time glitch, but can easily test for repeatability later.
The test would just be to upload a photo with a particular filename. And then delete that photo, and then upload a different photo having the same filename. And if the first image reappears, then it will mean that the forum software may take a while to do some background operations (that takes a while, such as 10 mins or 20 mins etc) before the new file actually over-writes the old one.
I should have posted this post under "News, Updates & Feedback". Thanks again Camille!

UPDATE
Oh geeez ....... it appears that the OB forum software has a mind of its own. Because yesterday ------ the "new file" (new photo, the replacement) really did appear in my gallery for both the thumbnail and the image.
But right now ----- both the thumbnail and the actual big image have reverted to the photo that is supposed to be gone (deleted).
The pic with the opening bud is the OLD pic that is meant to have been deleted/erased. The gallery is now showing that pic for both the thumbnail and full-size pic.
But yesterday, it first started out as old pic for thumbnail, and new pic for the full-size image (as seen in the screenshot in the opening post). And then I mentioned that later in the day, it appeared that everything became GOOD - with thumbnail and full-sized pics transitioned to the NEW pic image.
But now, very surprisingly ------ the old pic has actually come back ------ and is seen in both the thumbnail and fullsize pic. The replacement pic is nowhere to be seen.

That's very strange! Unfortunately I can't do anything about it, I don't have access to the server directly...

Thanks Camille!
I was just thinking that the behaviour could be due to my web browser (firefox) cache features.
I've cleared cache and everything now, and all seems to ok. So the behaviour could be due to firefox. Will update if anything does change later. But could most likely be cache related ----- and not due to the forum side.
Thanks again Camille!

I have found that cache can be really stubborn. With Firefox, I sometimes have to really get into the weeds... just clearing cache may be insufficient, if that doesn't work you can go to Cookies and Site Data, clear out the whole specific site, so that it rebuilds from scratch when you go back to it.

Thanks Roberta. Much appreciated. Clearing the cache and cookies, site data etc made an excellent difference.
