It loads rapidly. I looked at the message HTML. Are you posting a link to a reduced-size image at your flickr account?

This is what happens when we upload DC's original 768x1024 190 kb image. It ends up being 91.4 kb, and smaller pixel dimensions too.

Posting giant photos-50006445813_613904c8ba_b-jpg

And, when I use my computer resize the original image to 576x768 (width x height) ...... my photo editor makes it 340 kb. And this file becomes 65.9 kb AFTER upload. The photo below actually looks sharp and nice at 340 kb. But after upload, the 65.9 kb (as seen below here) shows the plants/leaves that are not sharp. The quality has been significantly reduced. This just means - what could be a very spectacular vibrant image is downgraded significantly in image quality (less sharp, washed out).

Direct links to some photo-sites will definitely help with the quality, as it bypasses the OrchidBoard re-compression or downsizing of uploaded images ----- even a small 100 kb image will automatically get downsized through the OrchidBoard processing software.

But one possible drawback of linked off-set photos is those other websites changing their link addresses at some time in the future, or those websites disappearing completely, or the images on those other sites disappear ------- resulting in broken links. Another possible disadvantage is the crazy advertisements that pop-up on the top or sides of the photo pages when we jump over to flickr etc.

i think I have it dialed in..i can embed the image as a direct link at almost any size- i am setting it at 600x800 because it seems that will fit most people's default settings and loads fast enough AND the best part, if you want to see more, you click and it takes you to my, paid for, ad free, flickr so you can look at the full 50" image!!!!

i am with SP, i love the detail, like on the wild willie flower above you can see the ant!

Growing orchids can be an expensive (but worth it) affair. Showing orchids can be too hahaha.

I am with YOU mate! hahaha. High-res on-tap is awesome! Not only should we be able to see the ant ----- the ant needs to be in good detail too hehehe.

On-tap just means - options to click on various resolutions - so we can enjoy some 'HD' resolution pics. In the future ------ let's envision 4 to 8k (plus) - serious detail hahaha.

DC ----- that's awesome how you got ad-free!!!!! I love it.

Funny story. I was once on a spearfishing forum I frequent and someone had an image hosted on a free link hosting site. I clicked and did not realize there some very NSFW ads on the banners and my boss walked in and was like “what are looking at??” And I said “spearfishing stuff” and he clearly did not believe me

I learned to never put someone else in that position lol

You take a deep breath, dive underwater, stick a fish with a spear, swim back up.

I always tell people it’s like being in an alien world, where you can fly and you am also bring home dinner
